Committee Scope

The CO2 Technical Committee will develop data-driven, unbiased, and industry-supported technical guidance to improve CO2 resiliency in food retail refrigeration.

Examples of guidance topics could include, but are not limited to:

  • Minimum pressure rating for CO2 refrigeration systems.

  • Purity requirements for refrigerant-grade CO2 gas.

  • Leak reduction guidance for CO2 refrigeration systems.


Committee Meetings

All CO2 Technical Committee meetings will be open to NASRC members and will take place on the second Tuesday of every month at 11am PST (2pm EST)

Committee Structure

  • STRUCTURE: 17 voting members representing the following categories:

    • Retailers/End-user (4 minimum)

    • OEMs for rack and cases (3 minimum)

    • Service contractors / Engineering & Design Firms (3 minimum)

    • Component manufacturers (3 minimum)

    • Other experts (4 open seats to be assigned at NASRC Board discretion)

  • SELECTION: Committee members will be selected by the NASRC Board of Directors based on the technical merit demonstrated in the application.

  • COMPANY LIMITS: Maximum of 1 individual per company can be approved as voting member.

  • TERM: Members will serve 1-year terms with the option to renew on an annual basis.

  • MEETING FREQUENCY: Committee will meet 1-2 times per month.

  • PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES: Meetings will be open to all NASRC members or other invited guests.
