CO2 Systems: Total System Integration and Troubleshooting

Co-hosted with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Energy Centers, this two-day workshop will focus on CO2 Booster Systems: Total System Integration and Troubleshooting. Refrigeration technicians will learn to understand CO2 Booster systems as integrated refrigeration, electrical, and control systems (aka “the Marriage”).

Participants will review how key components of a CO2 Transcritical Booster system work together, including compressors, valves, gas coolers, receivers, sensors, and controls. Using real-world examples, technicians will learn to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, I&O lists, and control information to understand system operation and identify critical troubleshooting clues.



Day one focuses on component review, wiring-diagram breakdowns, and interactive group exercises tracing refrigeration and control sequences. As in any marriage, no individually can work on their own, they must together as one unit.



Day two focuses on troubleshooting common CO2 system issues (aka “the Divorce”) using a systematic approach to diagnose alarms, component failures, electrical faults, control problems, and performance issues.
