Charge Preservation in Power Outage

How will we manage refrigerant charge during a power outage? It is a situation that does not often arise but must be prepared for. Charge Preservation, as a principle, refers to maintaining the charge on a CO2 refrigeration system during power outages or service events. It is a cost-effective and easily implemented solution. Hillphoenix’s Senthil Goundar will expand on what a typical CO2 Booster system design looks like, how it functions during normal operation, and what happens during a power loss. This webinar will cover how this affects charge pressure within a typical CO2 Booster system on both the medium and low-pressure sides and how there are different approaches to manage increased pressure.
Optimizing Operational Carbon: Reclaiming Heat From Refrigeration Systems for Space Heating

The presentation will be delivered by Andre Patenaude (Copeland) and Trevor Jones (Henderson Engineers). It is based on joint research conducted by Henderson Engineers and Copeland, examining the carbon emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) associated with refrigeration and space heating systems in supermarkets and hypermarkets across six climate zones. The study compares a baseline system using R448A refrigeration and gas heating with R744 systems that maximize heat recovery for space heating. The findings were previously presented at the 2024 FMI E&SD conference and featured on a “Refrigeration Mentor” podcast.
